The Fircrest Neighborhood Association and the Fircrest PTO have joined together to organize a plant sale on April 17th (the first day of planting in the Haagen plots).  The sale will be held in the Fircrest Elementary School parking lot from 9am-1pm.  We'll have the requisite veggie starts as well as flowers to deter pests and other garden needs provided by Cascade Nursery.

Wonderful! Have my plot plan mapped and just need the veggie starts.

Thank you Leeann for working with Fircrest PTO on this.

FYI this is the same date as our Chipper Day. See the FNA news for info about this as well :)

I  was  wondering if you had to live in the neighborhood to help in the garden.  If so how can we start one in our neighborhood?

Nope, you don't need to live in Fircrest to have a plot in Haagen Garden.  It's a city garden so open to all Vancouver residents. I'm not sure if there are plots available or not for the current season.  Call Marsall Center to check 487-7100.  The Ellsworth garden might also have open plots.

Info on community gardening opportunities in Vancouver can be found at http://www.ci.vancouver.wa.us/parks-recreation/facilities_locations/commgardens.htm and http://www.communitygrown.org/- or your neighborhood association can help get info and might be able to connect you to others in your area that are interested in getting one started.  Its worth the effort!
