last night's meeting

motion

The motion last night was to bring the subject up to the board to see how the situation should be handled. I am sure the board will handle it properly but do hope Mr. Lange will resign. At this time, he has lost respect of many people that have worked with him over the years.

To Rick

The turnout for the meeting last night was typical. It does not make me happy to say that, but it was the average attendance. And, from what I could see, it was made up of a typical cross section of neighbors who usually attend meetings.

The turnout for the meeting about CVS the week before was unusual. A turnout of that size only happens when a big issue is before the neighborhood. And sometimes not even then. The last time I saw a turnout like that was several years ago for the big stop sign issue.

I regret having to tell a new resident that apathy is so prevalent, but it is true. Your observation that a small number of people do the vast majority of the work is correct and that is the core of the problem here.

I, too, went to the meeting expecting a CVS discussion. I did not see any organized activity. What I saw was the president trying to censor the Internet, reassign committee chairs,
and control everything. When he continually insulted the secretary, then began to insult members as well, I saw the members become more and more angry at this behavior. Even given chances to back down, he continued to "bully" the crowd. The motion was made out of pure frustration due to his actions. (Remember, the motion came rather late in the meeting) A fair discussion, and amendments to the original motion took place. It was a very sad thing to witness, but I think it was a fair vote in response to outrageous behavior and predicated upon the postacard- remember that is the basis upon which the motion was made.......... that the president could not properly represent about 300 people in the neighborhood who owned homes within 150' of 4th Street. It was all cumulative and at no time did the president give the members any indication that he saw
how inappropriate his behavior had been and continued to be.

As for the other resignation of a president- I would venture that she was mislead by the current president. It is all tied together.

I saw only two "agendas" there last night. That of the president which was obviously diametrically opposed to that of the members who were there to gather information. The actions of the former forced the actions of the latter. Like a spontaneous combustion.

Absolutely Correct

Yes, I agree. The behavior last night was behavior that many old and current board members have seen many a time. It is just the first time he has been so unreal at a big meeting.

He would do himself a favor by resigning. And, if he really loves the neighbor likes he says, he's do it for the neighborhood.
it was just a matter of time

Sorry, Rick, but this was years in the making. It was just a matter of time before this man crossed the line one too many times and was not smart enough to see it. It isnt about CVS, its about attitude.
