Flushing On The Hill is located just south of the Long Island Expressway by Queens College. The community comprises approximately 300 homes, most of which are privately owned townhouses of one or two families. We have two major parks within easy walking distance. The proximity of the college offers many advantages and a few disadvantages. We have excellent bus service to many areas including the 7 train and the E/F/V/R subway line.
Both Flushing Meadows Corona Park (FMCP) and Kissena Park are within walking distance of our community.
Kissena Park is home to well maintained clay and composition tennis courts that are available to anyone with a city permit. The lake is undergoing a renovation and should be completed by August of 2003. In addition to numerous ballfields, KP boasts one of the few Velodromes (Bicycle Tracks) in the country; which is currently being renovated and should be finished by July of 2003. The track was originally built for the 1964 Olympic Trials.
FMCP is the main Queens park and the second largest in New York City. In addition to major events almost every summer weekend, the park is home to the US Tennis Open, the Queens Museum, Hall of Science, the Botanical Gardens, The Wildlife Conservation Center, Pitch-And-Putt Golf and miniature golf, the Dragon Boat races, an Ice Skating Rink, and the Willow Park nature sanctuary. We are very lucky to have all of this in our backyard.
We are located right off the LIE between exits 18 (Main Street) and 19 (Kissena Boulevard). Bus service includes the 88 running east and west, the 17, 25, and 34 running along Kissena, and the 44 and 20A on Main Street. In addition, the 74 loops around the neighborhood and goes to the 71st/Continental stop on the E/F line.
