I noticed yesterday some people walking around door to door giving papers and speaking to my neighbors, however I did not recieve a sheet nor did any of these people speak to me and I was outside. When I asked my neighbors what it was about they said that they were running for office for the association. I truely do not care who runs for office nor do I want to be on the board, however if these people only picked and chose whom they wanted to talk to about there possible position on the board, are they going to pick and choose the restrictions they care to enforce or the people they want to enforce them on??? If we can not get competent, trust worthy people who really care about the neighborhood then my vote is to dissolve it all together and hope for the best.

Dismayed
I have been living here for about 6 years give or take a few months. In that time I have seen this neighborhood grow into what it is now. Matter of fact I watched most of your homes get built. However, since the enforcement of the neighbor associate it has been a rather bumpy ride. This one back biting that one and so forth. I stay so busy I really don't have time for the little things that seem to plague so many. I am very glad that I live in this neighbor and have so many that are concerned with the upkeep and continued development of this area. The point I want to make is that our neighborhood has been burdened by many needless antics. I don't care to be involved in the politics or be caught up in any of the behavior that is taking place.
Yet, sometimes when you see things that are taking place and you know that they are not proper you must say something. I live next door to Mr. Dewight Hebert. Let's make no mistake here - I do not break bread with Mr. Hebert. What I'm trying to say is that their is no bias opinion. Since the induction of Mr. Hebert as President our neighbor has not gone down in appearance, nor has anyone lost value to their home because of neighborhood conditions. I've had my ditch dug which was desperately need to avoid flooding and I have seen the city out here more times than I can count. I hear all streets are to get a face lift. I also know that by speaking with Mr. Hebert that many cosmetic desires are coming. Maybe that's a priviledge of living next door. However, last year in the summer I was working alot and I received a letter from the board to cut my grass. At first I was furios. I live next door to Mr. Hebert. He showed no favortism.
This is what I have come to expect from our President Mr. Hebert. Yet the other day I received a letter on my door asking for a vote from me. Which was fine with me, until I read this email stating that Fred went to introduce himself, Randy and Cecil to others. Not that I need to meet Fred, but I have been here for six years and have never met Fred. If I believed that our neighborhood was in as much trouble as Fred does, Thier would not be a person that I would leave out. Every vote counts and being heard can potentially sway people in your direction, if their is value and truth in what you say. Character is what is needed in a leader. Mr. Fred Self, I think your name says it all. You are doing all this for yourself. I do not see character in what you are trying to do here. Mr. Hebert has always been forth coming and upright with all his business. Mr. Self, please do this neighborhood a great favor and be a spectator and let those who have proven results continue to work at the beautification of our neighboorhood.Mr Self I thank you for all the things you have done in the past to get our association started. Since that time the people have spoken.
Every person out here knows daily stress and aggravation and I promise none of us are looking to add more. Yet,what should be our safe haven has become a burden. We all have a short time on this earth and I don't want to be remembered for bickering with my neighbors. Love thy neighbor. Fred, I don't have a problem with you. I have a problem with the way you handled your business. Mr. Self I truely believe in the leader that we have now. However, I welcome your return comments.

also dismayed
Mr Overland,
I couldn't have said it better myself, and thank you for taking the time to voice your opinion. I personally give you a standing ovation! I have never posted here before, but after lurking for a while, I think it's time I voiced my opinion too.
I think all of this past year's board members (Dwight, Christy, and Colby) have done an excellent job, as well as the two new members (Nikki and Jeanette). I feel that the WHOLE neighborhood has been kept informed, not just a select few on the backstreet that belong to the clique.
Mr Self seems to complain alot about not seeing improvements and money being spent on attorneys fees, but what he fails to mention is that he is the one who got the attorney involved in the first place when he started the association. It was his idea to put a retainer on an attorney. An attorney is most definitely needed for THIS subdivision, because you have people who break restrictions and refuse to fix them, (Mr Self being included), and have no choice but to get an attorney involved for legal advice/action.
I personally believe that if we give Mr Self the reigns, a fountain will be placed in the lake behind his house immediately, no questions asked. This is the ONLY reason he wants to be on the board. While I agree the lake behind his house does need a fountain EVENTUALLY, there are much more important things that could benefit EVERYONE, and not just Mr Self and his running mates, Randy and Cecil for their pool parties.
Mr Self had the opportunity to make improvements to this neighborhood when he was President, but chose to do nothing. We didn't even get a regular newsletter. Now, he wants to constantly criticize the current board...I guess it's because he is not a part of it and things aren't being done to personally benefit him. If he was honestly interested in making our neighborhood a better place, in my opinion, he would have volunteered for a position on one of the committees this past year to TRULY make a difference. Instead, he chose to bicker with the board and complain here on this forum. I have personally seen more changes this past year with the current board than I did when Mr Self was President.
Mr Self, you had your chance to prove to us what you could do with our neighborhood, and you proved to do nothing. Also, I'm curious... why isn't your picture posted on Lake Clean Up Day? I see several children cleaning the lake behind your house...what's the deal with that?
