Well, I shouldn't be surprised and neither should the handful of people who read West Meadowbrook NL Discussions. I'm sure Ms. Libby has conveniently forgotten us ''po' folk here in da hood, cuz dey cain't arrest the way out of dis problem''.
Channel 11 reported on the car burnings Thursday night. I am thankful because possibly some bureaucrat or municipal employee might have been listening. What disturbed me was the interview with the elderly resident of 40 years who declared that this area has always been such a secure and safe neighborhood. Unfortunately, This is the typical response of many elderly residents in our area and nothing could be further from fact. These dear little old ladies rarely ever peek out of their doorways but to wisk off to the salon, church, or grocery(located in some other far-away borough -cuz they ain't none in da hood). Our sweet elderly residents are not aware of the thugs, meth-heads or other drug-users, whores, and filthy low-browed gang-bangers which drag their knuckles up and down Lancaster and through our streets until they or their neighbor falls victim to them.
Friday morning after hearing of the burned vehicles, I called the East Sector FWPD and spoke with one of the lieutenants. I asked what plans the PD had for additional patrols in light of recent criminal activity. His timid response lacked relevant answers but he asked if I report suspicious activity to 911or if I was a member of Code Blue. My response was yes to both queries; however, he had no intelligent response to the reply. To add to his consternation, I also asked what good was a call to 911 when priority calls like domestic disputes take precedence over drug dealing gangstas in a park after hours, a prosititute soliciting and providing services to customers to support her drug habit, or underage individuals possessing a tenuous grasp of discipline or morality who refuse to acknowledge the city curfew. Now, I understand the need and priority for attending to domestic disputes but this lieutenant did not realize what I had implied - the FWPD needs more officers on the streets. Oops, - I'm forgetting, Ms. Libby's unfailing belief that arrests were not the solution. Personally, I embrace draconian methods to eliminate the aforementioned individuals, but I guess Ms. Libby, the lieutenant, and others are expecting that we just let the current methods take their course and allow the continuing decline of east Ft. Worth.
I don't know about any of you West Meadowbrook neighbors out there, but I'm going to expect, scream, demand, and use any other method to wake you sheoples out there to the immediate need in our city. We may not have rational, informed representation in city government, but who needs them? You dear neighbors start speaking out and someone will hear. Maybe you can speak out by giving up a few evenings in front of the TV and patrol your neighborhoods with your cell phone and a 911 speed dial. I do it! By the way, if you're really interested in what's going on with crime in our area, you'll have to check out your streets between 1:30 and 3:30am. Maybe more of you can patrol or base for Code Blue. Everyone of you must daily report Code Compliance issues.
Good luck to you if you remain complacent like the little old ladies down the street. Maybe, you'll wake up to your car being torched.
