Isn't this overkill?

For those of you who are still unaware of it, the old Captain D's location is being redeveloped. Initial information implied that Captain D's was returning to E. Lancaster, an event that I suspect most of use would have considered to be a positive. It hasn't turned out that way.

While not yet in operation, signs are up. The new, quality business that we're getting? Texas Auto Title And Payday Loan. Considering the number of payday loan and check cashing operations that already exist on E. Lancaster, isn't this addition a little overkill?
More of the same.

This is right in line with the Dollar Stores, Automotive, Alcohol & Pawn Shops. If we get one we get ten. And yes the same goes for Check Cash businesses as well.

Weren't car lots better?

Considering what we're stuck with now, it makes me long for the good old days of one car lot after the other!

Seriously, between limited access from I-30 along with no destination stores to bring people from other parts of Ft. Worth, we have a very tough row to hoe.

One part of the problem is that the East Side was developed as a residential area. E. Lancaster was lined with homes and the occasional small business, restaurant or gas station, particularly after you got east of Beach Street. The place simply was not platted or zoned for the kinds of businesses we'd like to attract.
