Foster-Powell Neighborhood Association

Details about Upcoming Meetings

Jun 21, 1999

June 28, 1999
7:00 PM Multnomah Facilities Siting Discussion NW Cultural Center
1819 NW Everett (Basement)
This is concerning siting of criminal facilities (including Oregon Youth Authority and sex offenders, etc.). The last meeting had no concerned neighbors at all. The City and County need to see your face if you can come -- no matter what you think on the issue. It is hard for them to represent us if they can't hear our viewpoints.

June 30, 1999
6:00 PM City Council Hearing on Base Zone Design Standards City Hall
4th & Jefferson, Portland
I understand that this hearing will be packed with builders who don't want guidelines. Again -- your opinion counts, no matter which way you think on this issue. The sort of guidelines being discussed concern visible front doors, less visible garages ("snout houses"), etc.

July 6, 1999
7:00 PM FPNA General Meeting SE Civic Center
6401 SE Foster Road
This meeting will primarily be to discuss bylaws and making edits that will clean up some problem areas of the bylaws. Most of the items to be discussed are merely housekeeping. WE NEED 20 VOTING MEMBERS PRESENT TO RATIFY ANY CHANGE. PLEASE COME AND BRING OTHER MEMBERS OF YOUR FAMILY. I will try to arrange child care (my 15-year-old, Heather Rose).

Some of the problems with the bylaws are:
1. Changing to call the officers President, etc. instead of Chair -- since it is a non-profit corporation.
2. Defining the boundaries with what is in current use -- we are currently including an overlapping area across Powell.
3. Discussion about term limits.
4. Discussion about numbers of directors and perhaps adding "members at large."
5. Adding an official land use chair to represent us at SE Uplift. We have a chair but not an authorization to have ont in the bylaws.

Aug 3, 1999
6:00 PM Night Out in the Park Essex Park
76th & Center
This will be VERY informal. I called the parks, and there isn't really provision to reserve space for a non-sporting event. The softball field is reserved all day until 9:00 p.m., and that is the only event currently scheduled. The Park Bureau said there wasn't any reason to reserve to just go to the park and have a potluck. SO -- bring your potluck entree, and we'll set up on a picnic table and sit on blankets and just have a good time.

Sept 7, 1999
7:00 PM FPNA General Meeting St. Anthony Parish Hall
3618 SE 79th
First meeting in our new handicapped-accessible location!!! Yippee!!! I will miss the SE Civic Center, but I know this will better serve our community. Thanks to Bruce Clark for the long use of the SE Civic Center!

Please call Cindy Peek at 775-3006 if you have any questions.
