From your neighbor…. - Winter Issue '03

Jan 20, 2003

There seems to be an underlying concern by some residents that community meetings are the same as we experienced in the early days.

As a regular participant at our community meetings, I feel compelled to present my feelings about the changing level of participation by the community as a whole. I have watched a group of residents slowly become an organization with good ideas. Without undue confrontation, they have succeeded in changing the current climate of our community meetings from what we initially experienced.

As we all know, the builder created our by-laws for us without our input. Depending on who and how the by-laws are interpreted, we may all be in some level of violation. With due respect, the community has issues which were left to us by the builder without much thought about how it might impact us. We as a community must move forward and look to our future.

Our development is nearing completion and the architectural review committee will again be given over to the community for good. It is up to us to determine what can and can't be done in our community. What is in the past should be left there. It is time to move on. It is time to review the by-laws and interpret them as necessary to make us a better community.

It is most important that we all participate in future meetings in order for us to grow as a community organization. If you don't attend the meetings, you have no one to blame but yourself for the future of our community.

My family and I are happy that we live here and as far as I am concerned, we can make this community one that we all are proud of. We can only do this with participation from the entire community. I know I will be there. - Donn Wilt
