ROADS-NOT ON APRIL BALLOT???

Posted in: Foxfield
choked up

You would have to be blind, deaf and dumb not to know that the majority of residents want the roads paved. The town board continues to put the road issue on the ballots without getting proper information from citizens. How the initiative has been presented is why this issue has NOT PASSED. Some want to be able to use the assessment as a tax write off. Some think the assessments were not assessed fairly, according to property owned. We will continue to ram this bill down your throat until it is done correctly and passes. So, maybe you should invest in some cough medicine. Why are you afraid to use your name?

Why don't YOU pay for the roads?

Rough Talk

You talk like you are the people's voice. Who are you? I will not honor you with another reply unless you are willing to use your name. By the way, we are on the same side when it comes to un-incorporation! Is the only reason you don't want paved roads a matter of money?

Paving On Ballot Not Important

The Board of Trustees was more concerned with paying an attorney to fight the unincorporation issue than they were in getting this issue on the ballot. Because the town chose to fight the validity of the petitions in court, the committee for unincorporation spent approximately $8,000 in attorney and court costs to keep this on the ballot. I wonder what the town spent in attorney and court costs to lose in court. More wasted money by the town? You bet. Especially when you consider that the vote was 2 to 1 in favor of staying a town.

By the town fighting this issue reminds me of killing a fly with a sledge hammer. In this case, the fly lived but it cost the town a ''whole bunch'' of money to swing the hammer.
