Marc I need to correct something. I said "Stinnet" Road when I meant to say "Stimmel" Road.

Hey Shoafie, just checking in. It's moving day..... I will be just off of Brown Rd south of Frank. I am "trading" homes with one of my sons to give my grand-daughters a little more room and to get them in the Big Walnut school system. My son picked a poor time to make the move with the holiday weekend and he pulled extra shifts to make matters worse. He worked for a former employer (with his older brother) on two of his days off and is pulling a shift and a half for Jefferson Twp as a firefighter/ems. My youngest son has planned a camping trip with friends so we will be short by two people. I don't see things going real smooth and the U-haul will be sitting idle most of today with rental fees acruing. The plan is to be moved by Saturday...... fat chance. I'll have to make a trip down there today and see what I have to work with.... plus I have to return the surplus material from the "stockade" I had to build to keep my dogs in the yard. The homeowner agreement does not allow chainlink and I was forced to go with wood that I do not like. Can't see what is happening on the other side of the fence!!

I remember Green Gables drive-in.... replaced by McDonalds. Big Bear/Hart's is long gone and Kroger has moved farther south. The stadium is idle now that Huntington stadium has been completed. Big Bear is completely gone after being purchased by Penn Traffic and mis-managed while being drained of all assets. Green Gables was still popular in the late 60's. I was a north ender so I cruised Jerry's Drive-in in my '57 Chevy.... long ago.

Take care and have a happy safe 4th!!

Marc

Hey!! I just finished a post...LOL. I was wondering about Stimmel Rd and knew what you meant. I'll be back later. Gotta run to Grovetucky and get car keys. The kids left the window down on their car and set the security system. If need be I can cover the window with plastic but don't wish to hear the alarm again. I set it off checking for keys.

Hi Marc, I hope your move went well. I know the feeling, I moved out here east of Tacoma about six years ago to escape the terrible school system. We had a teenager who needed a decent education in a school that was not controlled by gang bangers. People will give up a lot to see that that their kids can get a good start in life. I didn't know that Big Bear was gone. That place was there for many years. I went in there the last time I was in Columbus. My aunts lived right up Brown Road and went there all the time. When I was a kid the stadium was called "Red Bird Stadium". Oh well, we can't bring the old days back, too bad! Take care Marc.
