Assault Crime McKinley Park

PASS IT ON

Wednesday night, Feb. 28, at 6:55 PM, I was parallel parking in front of the McKinley Park library on Alhambra (which apparently annoyed the car behind me) when the car -- a large medium blue SUV, American made, I think -- zoomed around me. After progressing about five cars lengths northbound on Alhambra, she put on the brakes and started backing up jerkily as if she was going to ram me. I threw my car into reverse and avoided her hitting me when she jumped out of the car and started coming toward me. She is blond, white, age 30-40, 150-170 or so, 5'5-5'8.

I took off and thought it was over and decided NOT to go to the library. Several blocks later, she was behind me again, flashing her lights and acting as if she might ram me. We sped up and down the streets north and slightly east of the tennis courts, although I was afraid to try to outrun her since the streets are small. I didn't want to hurt anyone. I crossed McKinley Blvd southbound at the tennis courts and stopped right next to them to yell to two women standing there to call the police. She was stopped right behind me yelling.

I turned left at the corner behind the garden center and right again on one of those streets, probably 35th. I got caught at the corner of 35th and H because of lots of westbound traffic on H. She backed up and rammed me hard, pulled a 3-point U turn and sped off north on 35th and away.

This behavior is scary and incomprehensible. I did not get a license plate number -- it was dark and she was chasing me -- but it's reasonable to think that someone going north on Alhambra at 7 PM on a Wednesday might be headed into the McKinley Park neighborhood. If you see a blue SUV, larger, but not new, with a damaged front end in the McKinley Park neighborhood please get the license plate number. Or maybe your ''neighbor'' with a car of this description suddenly has front end damage. I think I could identify her.
