Mayor and Board of Alderman Meeting

I try to attend the meetings each First Monday of every month of the Mayor and Board of Alderman. While most of the agenda items are very dry and repetitive, there is always noteworthy information at each meeting. I would like to try and present what "I" feel was noteworthy from the meeting each month.
Tim Brown, that's me, asked why the Senior citizen's center, which was built with our tax dollars, is not more affordable to civic minded meetings. They currently charge $400 to use their, "OUR", facility as a meeting place. The mayor took my number and promised to get back with me. I will keep you informed.

Mayor Wiseman read a proclamation proclaiming June 14 as "Flag Day" and encouraged all residents of Arlington to fly their flags PROUDLY! I concur!

Mayor Wiseman noted that he had previewed the plans for a "Learning Tree" Daycare that will be opening in approximately 10 months. He said it is a beautiful building. That should be good news to parents of younger children.

A quit claim deed was granted by the city to Rich Products Inc. This was for a small strip of land neither Rich Products or the town could determine the true ownership of. The Mayor said the quit claim deed would allow Rich Products to expedite their planned expansion. If you haven't heard Rich Products is planning on a $35-$40 million expansion of it's Arlington plant and expecting to offer 150-200 additional manufacturing jobs.

Hugh Lamar, Vice-Mayor/Alderman, explained that he received a call last month from the victim of a dog attack. The man was jogging when he was attacked on Chester Street. The jogger was able to finally fend the dog off but he felt that a child or teen would most probably have been killed in the attack. The man received stitches in several areas on his body as a result of the attack. The Vice-Mayor reminded the attendees of Arlington's leash law.
