PRESIDENT?’S LETTER

Dear Homeowner Residents,

If anyone would have told me a year ago that I would be the new Homeowners?’ Association president, I would have said that isn?’t possible. At the end of Bill Weathersbee?’s tenure as president, it appeared that the organization would collapse with no one willing to accept the presidency position. Having been a resident of Garden Dale since 1976 and a newly retired teacher, I decided to volunteer for the position.

The St. Andrews area has several unique features: access to two interstates and close proximity to major shopping areas and downtown. Although the homes are older, they are very well built. It is my goal as president this year to provide you information that will improve the integrity of our neighborhood and increase the value of your property. There are numerous older areas around town that have maintained or increased in value. I would like for our area to be known as one that would attract prospective buyers, but it will require that all residents work together for any needed improvement of property. If you?’re like me, my home is my greatest investment. I want to maintain or increase its value by keeping my yard and home presentable at all times and updating the interior as much as my finances allow.

I?’m looking forward to meeting you at our general meeting on Thursday, October 15.

Sincerely,
LeClair Welborn

ENTRANCES TO GARDEN DALE, GARDEN DALE ESTATES & GRENADIER

The Garden Dale-Grenadier Homeowners Association agreed at the beginning of 2008 to take over the maintenance of the Garden Dale Entrances from the Garden Dale Garden Club. Therefore, the Garden Dale Garden Club is no longer asking Garden Dale homeowners to donate money toward this endeavor. They do appreciate your generosity for all the previous years and hope you will continue to assist the HOA with this responsibility.

In order to serve all our subdivisions, the HOA has worked to not only take care of the maintenance of all the entrances into our neighborhood (Garden Dale, Garden Dale Estates, Grenadier), but also make improvements to them. This is all very costly, but we believe a worthwhile project. All these entrances are the gateways to our community and their appearance defines the neighborhood and its home values. Thus it is very important to keep them attractive.

The assistance of all homeowners is needed by the payment of your membership dues (only $15 annually) plus any donations that you can send. Dues and donations will be accepted at the Thursday, October 15th meeting or you can send your check to:
GD-GR HOA, Inc.
P.O. Box #1232
Irmo, SC 29063.

HOA COMMITTEES

We will have sign-up sheets at the meeting for the various committees and programs of the HOA. This is a great way to get to know your neighbors and make a positive effect on the community.

GARBAGE AND TRASH PICKUP

There seems to be some confusion with some of our neighbors as to what and how Southland Sanitation will collect your recycling, garbage and yard trash. As a result, we are faced with unsightly heaps that will not be picked up by the garbage service.

They will not pick up discarded appliances, furniture, carpeting and padding, remodeling refuse, unbagged yard refuse, branches over 4?’ long and 4?” in diameter, tires and other things of this nature. You need to make other arrangements or carry to one of the Lexington County dumps. Call ahead, because only some of the dumps are equipped to accept everything. The phone numbers are:

Lexington County Office of Solid Waste Management - 803 755-3325
Southland Sanitation - 803 256-7276.

In an effort to keep our community looking neat and clean, we ask that you put your garbage, recycling and yard trash out to the curb either the evening before scheduled pick-up or very early that morning. It is also requested that you move your recycling bin and garbage can to the back of your yard as soon as possible after the pickup has been made.
