Two Fort Worth Neighborhood Associations Are NUSA Finalists
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are pleased to announce that Carter Riverside Neighborhood Association, winner of the 2005 Community Collaboration Award, and Garden of Eden Neighborhood Association, winner of the 2005 Spirit of Fort Worth Award, have been selected as finalists for the Neighborhoods USA (NUSA) Neighborhood of the Year award. The Neighborhood of the Year (NOTY) award is the only national award given on an ongoing basis to a neighborhood organization in recognition of its outstanding projects.
To be eligible for consideration for Neighborhoods USA Neighborhood of the Year award, a neighborhood organization must have developed or implemented a project that benefited their neighborhood in 2005. While we are proud of the accomplishments of all our 2005 Neighborhood Award winners, based on this criterion Community Relations Department nominated Carter Riverside Neighborhood Association for their Movie Night at the Pavilion project. This project, implemented with the assistance of the Riverside Branch Library, was designed to promote civic and community engagement in the 76111 zip code. The Garden of Eden Neighborhood Association was nominated for their 1st Annual Neighborhood Reunion project, designed to recognize their recent designation as the first African-American Historical and Cultural Landmark District, celebrate the history and rebirth of their community and serve as a fundraiser to build a museum in their neighborhood.
The recognition of two Fort Worth neighborhood associations is a distinctive honor that highlights the spirit of collaboration and community that exists in Fort Worth and the people who are proud to call it home.
