The Garden of Eden was named the 2004 Neighborhood of the Year by the City of Fort Worth, the League of Neighborhood Associations and the Neighborhood Education Center
The Historic and Cultural Landmark Commission and the Zoning Commission of Fort Worth has unanimously voted approval and recommendation to the City Council of Fort Worth to designate the Garden of Eden Carson Street as the first African-American historical and cultural district in Tarrant County, enabling more people to learn about the neighborhood and about Fort worth's rich African-American history.
On October 5, 2005, the Board of Directors of Historic Fort Worth, Inc. presented the Garden of Eden with the Citation of Merit for a Project for establishing a local historic district and publicity in State and National Preservation Publications.
