Anybody interested in starting the Cambridge Yard of the Month?

I have a couple local vendors that will donate prizes for the event as well as part of annual dues to help fund the prizes.

I was thinking on the lines of one monthly winner and then all 12 winners get voted by the community for the the Yard of the Year.

This is an opportunity for each homeowner to take pride in the land they own. We don't have to make it about the most flowers or garden accents, but about general upkeep of ones yard.

In all reality reward is positive for all humans. Why not reward the homowners who do an outstanding job at keeping up their land? This also may lead to others also wanting
recognition. Even better - giving you a chance to meet your neighbors when you are out there working in the yard.

If we could get a group of 4-6 people to join the YARD OF THE MONTH COMMITTEE this could happen! Please contact me if you are interested.

However, if you are not interested in being on the committee but would like to help set up some guidelines or rules for this event please feel free to share. Either post directly to this discussion or email me personally. I encourage all to at least reply with one response so that the entire community is involved in planning this event.

Hopefully once the event is mapped out there will be many years for all to enjoy the beautiful yards in our community.

Thank you all for taking the time to get involved in your neighborhood. This is a special place WE all call home. Hope to see in the yard.

Yard of the Month

I think its a great idea! And what fun! I love riding around the neighborhood just looking at my neighbors yards and getting ideas. Many of you have really put alot of work into your lovely yards, and should be very proud of them. So yes, I think its a great idea Michelle. Count me in!

Yard of the Month

Michelle. I was talking to Tonya (Nordahl Realty) this morning about Yard of the Month. She said it was a great idea and would see if she can find some guidelines and would get back to me. I will keep you posted. Keep up the good work. Preston

Yard of the Month

I have decided to go ahead and start this program. This neighborhood needs some excitment, encouragment and pride. This upcoming newsletter I will annouce the winner for May. I have chosen this particular yard on my own my own descretion.

However starting in June this is how it will work until we have something official drawn up.

This program is NOT intended for only the judges, committees or officals to nominate and dictate. But for the citizens to get involved and give credit/recognition to those who deserve
it.

1. Any Cambridge resident can nominate a yard they think deserves recoginition. Either post on this forum, contact Michelle via email, phone or drop in mail box.

2. All entries need to be in by the last Monday of each month.

3. EVERY resident will have a chance to vote on these nominees via this forum.

4. On the first of each month one yard will be announced as the winner.

5. In december, we will conduct a week long voting to award the yard of the year recoginition.

Simple, easy and quick to start. I hope this is informative and helps everyone get excited about OUR neighborhood. If you have any question, ideas or comment please contact me.
