Hi from Park Forest,

Attached is a copy of the program I have used in the past at schools. I can
adjust the programs to fit your audience and time frame. If you have opted
for a classroom visit (I have it written down which schools want only small
group discussions), I will basically talk about the library and reading
program with silly questions mixed in. If you are scheduled to have a
longer program, please give a copy of the skit to the four 6th grade
volunteer performers you have chosen at your school (the child on the
computer has to be a boy). Please pick around fifteen 3rd grade volunteers
for the puppet show if you are scheduled to have a long Pre K-3rd
presentation. The 6th grade volunteers do not have to memorize their lines
- just become familiar with them - because they can read their scripts
during the skit. I can go over the puppet show 10 minutes or so with the
3rd grade volunteers before the presentation.

For those schools who had me last year and need an auditorium performance
rather than a small group discussion about the library and Summer Reading
Program, I will have an entire new program developed. Please let me know as
soon as possible about your school needs.

Saturday, April 16th at 2:00 to 4:00 PM - Spring Craft Fun for National
Library Week. Come join us for a fun afternoon of (free) craft making. We
supply the materials and ideas so you and your children can make many fun
items like bookmarks, photo frames, holiday cards and gifts. All ages are
welcome, as we will have easy to difficult projects. We supply these craft
days with craft material we find in our closets. If anyone has any extra
crafting material that they would like to donate, we would love to have it
for our program. Thanks!

Wednesday, April 20th at 10:00 AM - We have many activities planned in the
upcoming months at our branch. On April 20th we will have African Drumming
with Leo Hassan Come hear Leo play African musical instruments in a fun and
entertaining way. Children will hear ancient folktales and songs then will
learn basic dance steps and rhythms with Leo. The performance ends with the
audience playing the musical instruments and dancing to traditional African
music.

First Day of Summer Reading Program Sign Up May 21 (Saturday) - 2:00 PM-4:00
PM Lone Star Comics Game Time and Free Comics Come join us at
Park Forest Library to sign up for our Summer Reading Program. Lone Star
Comics will be here from 2-4 PM to give out free comic books and to play
card and Board games with our children and adults.

May 28 (Saturday) - 2:30 PM Snake Encounters with Daryl Sprout With the
timing of a stand-up comedian, Daryl does an exciting, funny, fast-paced
show with his great collection of pet snakes. He has been described as a
cross between Steve Irwin and Steve Martin and has become known as "the
George Carlin of Herpetology." His show is educational, fun, and hands on.
Many of the animals seen can be touched at the end of the show. Children of
all ages.

June 1 (Wednesday) - 2:30 PM African Drumming with Leo Hassan
Come hear Leo Hassan play traditional African musical instruments. Children
young and old will hear ancient folktales and songs, and then learn basic
dance steps and rhythms with Leo. The performance ends with the audience
playing the musical instruments and dancing to traditional African music.
Children of all ages.

June 8 (Wednesday) - 2:30 PM Tracey Shook...Ventriloquist Come see Freddy
Spaghetti, Punchy the Parrot, Arvey the Armadillo and Alis the Alien perform
with Tracey Shook. Mr. Shook began performing ventriloquism in 1979 and
has entertained audiences ever since. He and his puppet friends teach the
art of ventriloquism in a fun and entertaining way. Children of all ages.

June 15 (Wednesday) - 10:00 AM Appalachian Music with Marsha Webb Come hear
songs about Appalachia played on a mountain dulcimer, a mandolin, a bowed
psaltery and a Guitar. Ms Webb teaches her audience about the history,
sociology and geography of the region, then shows her audience how to
make music instruments with common objects. Children of all ages.

June 15 (Wednesday) - 2:30 PM Shelby's Science Stories.... Would You Rather
Be Tarantula or a Jumping Spider? How dangerous are tarantulas? How
do you spell tarantula? Shelby connects facts and folklore in the world
around us. She brings stories to life with her humorous and interactive
performance. Best suited to elementary and middle school ages, but
everyone is welcome.

June 18 (Saturday) - 2:30 PM Neighborhood Touring Program presents Esudele
Fagbenro. A one-act play that tells the story of an African American maid
and her relationship with a young white boy growing up in a 1970's Highland
Park neighborhood. Mr. Fagbenro gives a hilarious performance that keeps
his audience mesmerized and laughing. Elementary school to adults and
seniors.


June 22 (Wednesday) - 2:30 PM Outer Space Odyssey
Join Steve Keiffer on an odyssey that is out of this world.
Children explore what it would be like to live
on other planets in an awe-inspiring "space tunnel" set up at Park Forest
Library. Fun and
Informative. Ages 4 and up.

June 29 (Wednesday) - 10:00 AM Bonkers the Clown
A long time crowd favorite...former Dallas TV
personality...multi-talented...popular with all age groups...juggling,
magic...extemporaneous "street" performer...This guy is Bonkers! All ages.

June 29 (Wednesday) - 2:30 PM Logan the Juggler
Logan presents an exciting and fast paced show that includes
juggling objects of all kinds, including
balls, clubs, and fruit. The show also includes comedy,
skits, storytelling, and audience participation. Children of all ages.

July 6 (Wednesday) - 2:30 PM Esmeralda the Gypsy Storyteller with Dorayne
Breedlove.
Join Esmeralda as she weaves wild stories from the Old
Country. From palaces, to villages, to the wide open places, children will
hear stories full of enchantment and magic as they travel on an adventure in
their wildest of imaginations. (Children ages 5 and up)

July 13 (Wednesday) - 2:30 PM Zooniversity with Allison Blankenship
Ms Blankenship brings exotic animals to Park Forest Library
for a fun and educational program. She shares fascinating facts about the
animals' lives and behaviors and shows us some of her very unique animals.
All of her animals are tame and touchable. Ages 3 to adult.

July 16 (Saturday) - 2:00 PM Readers are Leaders Celebration
To be announced. All ages.

July 20 (Wednesday) - 10:00 AM Library Live Performance
To be announced. All ages

July 20 (Wednesday) - 2:30 PM The World of Story Telling with Dan Gibson
Dan brings the world to us through storytelling and song. He
plays the banjo, guitar, mountain dulcimer and a one-string pickin' bow.
Children will learn some American Sign Language as they are challenged to
think about story meaning. Come join us at Park Forest Library for a
morning of good old-fashioned fun! Children of all ages.

July 27 (Wednesday) - 2:30 PM Dinomania
Dinomania includes magic, music, puppets, games, storytelling, comedy,
audience participation and fun,
all centered around different dinosaurs. Baby Dinostar (a wise cracking
baby dinosaur puppet) even
leads the audience in their own Rock and Roll Band with music
and singing. Children of all ages.

August 3 (Wednesday) - 2:30 PM Jungle Jim's Bugs of the World
This is the largest live and preserved traveling arthropod exhibit you will
ever see! Jungle Jim brings
giant spiders, scorpions and centipedes to Park Forest
Library and presents them in a fun and interactive way to his audience. He
also brings crustaceans, fossils and amber in his exhibit. His program is
both educational and exciting. Children of all ages, adults and seniors.
