Greetings GERC members!
We recently completed and posted two more lessons of the 12 part series on emergency preparedness: EP-6 Severe Storms and EP-10 Wildfires (EP-1 through 5) were released in 2011. We broke with the original plan to complete and release the lessons in numerical sequence because the fire season (March and April) are coming soon in Thailand.
The Emergency Preparedness (EmPrep) lessons are posted to our RTC-TH Tech site (www.neighborhoodlink.com/RTC-TH_Tech/pages).
We are working on EP-9 Lightning now as it is closely related to the summer thunderstorm season which is the "hot,dry" fire season in northern Thailand.
After that, work resumes on EP 7 Floods and EP 8 Landslides as those will be pertinent to the 2012 monsoon rainy season that can start in the May/Jun time frame. We hope to also follow these up with EP 11 Diseases.
EP 12 Earthquakes is the low on the list due to the low probability of this kind of event. But the existence of the Pua Fault in close proximity to the Jompra subdistrict where our farm is located caused us to add this lesson to the list.
