· This year, E-470's overlay project will be in the Smoky Hill Road area.
· Construction of the west and eastbound Jamaica Street ramps, just east of I-25/C-470, is on schedule. Both bridges across Cottonwood Creek were finished in January. Paving, signing and striping will be completed over the next few months, with a projected opening to traffic by July 2004.
· In cooperation with Douglas County, E-470 will begin construction this spring of a second Chambers Road bridge, along with new access ramps on the east side of the bridge.
· This summer will also bring installation of new traffic signals at the bottom of the Jordan Road ramps, together with widening of the Jordan Road and Happy Canyon bridges. This will lay the groundwork for adding a third express lane in each direction from Toll Plaza A to Cherry Creek in 2005.
· The City of Aurora, E-470, and the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) executed an Intergovernmental Agreement for construction of the first phase, north-south flyby, at the I-70/E-470 interchange. The flyby will provide continuous travel on E-470, bypassing the traffic signals at I-70. After construction, I-70 access from E-470 will be available via the existing ramps. E-470 anticipates issuing the design/build contract for the flyby in the first half of 2004, with construction to begin before the end of the year. The completion date is targeted for 2006.
· Be aware that E-470 does use enhanced magnesium chloride to pre-treat it’s roadways in advance of snowstorms.
The “Parker Chronicle” reported that Douglas County will begin extending Chambers Road from Lincoln Avenue south to West Parker Road in the Summer and Fall of 2004.
