Grant Park is a community located on the far east side of the City of Tampa, and borders Hillsborough County, Florida. The geographic boundaries of Grant Park are N. 50th Street to the West, E. M. L. King, Jr. Blvd. to the North, and Interstate - 4 to the South and East.
The community has been in existence for a long time and served as one of the original bedroom communities to the City of Tampa. The community is unique in the fact that while most of it is within the City Limits of Tampa, there are a few blocks that are governed by Hillsborough County. Therefore, this area has two governmental jurisdictions to contend with.
The community is multi racial / cultural with a good mix of people. The community has a local Recreation Center which is operated by the City of Tampa's Recreation Department but serves all residents of Grant Park. During the school year the recreation center offers after school care and also summer programs for the kids.
The Grant Park Recreation Center is located in the center of the community at 3724 N. 54th Street, Tampa. Again, this is a focal point for the community hosting the monthly meeting for the Grant Park Neighborhood Civic Association and an array of other events throughout the year.
The Grant Park Neighborhood Civic Association was reestablished in late 1999 and the current association formed in January 2000.
Grant Park being the unique community that it is being some City of Tampa and some Hillsborough County residents, the association has entered into partnership with not only the residents but city, county and state governments, local businesses and others.
The goal of this association is to create a better community in which to live through partnerships of its residents and other stakeholders and to promote the common good of all.
