Hey,,,,,,,,,,,, Grant Park,
This is Officer Gene King. I wanted to let you all know that we have received several complaints in regard to continued drug dealing and prostitution going on in and around the neighborhood.
On November 13, 2000, in the evening Firehouse COPs did a bicycle operation in Grant Park and we were able to come in contact with several street level drug dealers. Unfortunately, we were not able to make any arrest however, they never saw it coming and they (dealers) were not very happy.
I can also say that is coming weeks there will be another operation in and around Grant Park and again, hopefully, we will be able to net some dealers and put some people in jail. Of course it would be nice if the judicial system would keep them in jail but that is another issue.
Also on a positive note, there is continued growth in Grant Park. More and more homes are being constructed and new people and families are moving in. When you see a new family move in be a good neighbor and go introduce yourselves, tell the new comer about Grant Park and invite them to the Grant Park Neighborhood meeting held on the third Tuesday of each month at the Grant Park Recreation Center.
And most of all, we you all see crime occurring, CALL. When you see the drug dealers on the street call QUAD, the district office, or 911 if it is bad enough. Remember, you have to squeak to get the grease.
