In the April meeting minutes, I noted a
suggestion to pay The Council and The
Mayor for their time and services. While on the surface it appears to be a simple yes or no issue, it also opens up possible increases in monies paid out for The City, The Council and The Mayor. Would it be an hourly amount subject to taxes for The City, The Mayor and The Councilmembers on an IRS W2 and a Worker's Compensation Policy additional premium charge or a set amount paid on a 1099 as an Independent Contractor? Either way, also it will be a possible increase in monies paid for The City Liability Coverages and the individual Council/Mayor's Personal Liability Coverages as their time would no longer be ''volunteer labor'' and could possibly effect the Worker's Compensation and Commercial Auto Coverages as well. I suggest research into the monetary increases for The City itself and The City Taxpayers to fund the increase in expenses before it is put to a yes or no vote.
