Have you noticed the trees with red ribbons and/or marks along Parental Home Road?

JEA is planning to cut them all down! Please express yourself! What do you think??

We saved the Oaks at Parental Home Road and Bowden Rd. It's still a pretty area because of it. The trees are our source of oxygen, homes and food for birds, a buffer to Parental Home Road, and give us a more rural/natural area esthetically.

I would hate to see them gone.

What do you think??
TREES W/RED

scmg; Thanks for the heads-up re the Jea tree markings. I just saw your message and drove the length of Parental Home Road to get the picture. Not to defend the Jea, and having no connection with them other than as a customer, I can understand their tree problems. As follows:

1..During the widening of Parental Home Road, the power poles and lines had to be set back several feet from their original position. this places the lines directly over or in the midst of the old trees.

2..I saw many ''new'' trees which may have been planted by folks who didn't look up when choosing the location. A typical example is the Crape Myrtles along vacant property near Bowden Road.

3...It most likely be many years before we can hope to have our utility lines positioned underground. Meanwhile, old trees which interfere with safety of power lines have to be trimmed or removed. Trimming is expensive, temporary, and often jeopardizes the stability of the tree.

As a conservationist and believer that we aere but stewards of God's creation, I sympathize with you but see no way out.
Sincerely, VIC Harrold, V/P. GHANA
