Deposit
If you can still get your deposit money back, do so. You'll save yourself the grief of having to deal with the unprofessional employees of Village Homes. John Houk, Mark Rems, and all the other people who simply do not know how to provide the customer service that we have all paid for.
P.S. If you still decide to build, I highly suggest that you invest in a good, professionally certified, home inspector. He/she can help you avoid years of warranty hassles related to structural problems.

very concerned
I happen to be one of those homeowners whose property will be ruined. We on Himalaya Court DO NOT WANT THIS SUBSTATION! We were told that we can't fight it. We are frustrated that a school district would allow this. As parents, we are very concerned about the health and safety of our children. We are also very concerned about our property value. We need the help of the homeowners. Village will not help us. We were told that if a substation is not built by the summer of 2001 that all building would cease. Builders in this area would support IREA.
Our HOA is still controlled by village, therefor I do not expect our HOA to suppport us. I feel they should. That would be the right thing to do. The land has not been sold yet. It still has to go through the Arapahoe County Planning(303-795-4450). Please call them. Also, here are some other numbers: Superintendent, Cherry Creek Schools(Monte Moses 303-486-4262), IREA(Bill Schroeder 303-688-3100), Principal,Falcon Creek Middle School(303-400-7700). Please Help!

Economics
The only way to "convince" IREA not to build the substation adjacent to Greenfield is to do so via economics. If the total cost of ownership and operation is higher here than at another site, then they'll pick the other site. Land acquisition, construction costs, and LEGAL FEES

Ooops ... didn't finish what I started.
I vote that the Board hire a lawyer to represent Greenfield in this "discussion" with IREA. IREA is a monopoly, and will not respond to individual homeowner concerns. They are much more likely to respond to a lawyer, who represents the neighborhood.
We all pay $600 a year to the HOA, and have the right to compell the board to act. If Annette Louder and her Village cronies don't agree, either because they have a conflict of interest regarding this issue, or because they do not live in Greenfield, then maybe they should resign from the board so that we can vote in some fellow homeowners to clearly represent OUR interests.
