Why do I bother?

Posted in: Greenfield
I walk my dog every day down by the walking paths. I take him off the path to do his business. Here I am dodging 8 piles of other dogs poop and bend down to clean up after my dog. I could never leave it there and sometimes feel why should I bother. But I do because I love Greenfield. A woman was even kind enough to thank me for what I felt was my responsibility. Please people...clean up after your dogs!

AMEN!!

Thank you for being the exception to the rule! I can imagine how frustrating it is to see that others can't take the time to do the same!
Despite the fact that this issue has been posted numerous times on this site, it seems that the majority of dog owners still feel it is their right to allow their pets to do their business wherever and whenever. Those of you that have chosen to own pets have the responsibility to take care of their needs and clean up after them. If you can't do that, leave them in your yard and your family can step in their poop. Last time I checked, it wasn't acceptable for me to let my kids relieve themselves on the side of the bike trail and then leave it there! No one feels the need to set up ''stations'' which provide supplies for me to clean up such a mess, yet it is suggested that we should do this ''to encourage'' dog owners to be responsible. Please! Grow up and clean up after your pets!
Thanks

Thanks so much for your response. This is such a terrible problem in our neighborhood. I wish they could fine people for not cleaning up. The bad part is a neighbor of mine is guilty of not cleaning up after her dog. I ''gently'' mentioned it one day so as not to offend her, and she didn't get the message. She felt because her dog went in the weeds it did not matter. Oh well there is always hope for these people.

Ditto

There will always continue to be those who believe they are above the rules because they are not intelligent enough to understand we have regulations in all aspects of our lives for reasons that benefit us as a whole, not just individually. Horse manure and dog waste continue to be littered along the common areas and even on the walkways. This is not only a nuisance, but a health issue, especially regarding our children who play in these areas. The only way to begin to effectively resolve this issue is to take action, not just post words. The rest of us responsible community members must fight this by confronting those who violate our neighborhood, and even reporting them to the proper authorities. No, we shouldn't 'have' to do this, but we must!
