I care...

You do have to give your name when submitting a violation to the HOA or they won't do anything. I know this from experience. I too do not want to offend anyone, but it is not personal. I've had issues with neighbors where things were discussed ahead of time. Some residents really don't care and think they are above the rules. You need to report violations, and stand behind them to get any action.

I care too!

You do have to give your name to file a complaint, however you can tell the HOA to please keep your name anonymous. I have recently sent in a complaint and Sue Daigle honored my request. The violation was taken care of by the homeowner too!

Covenants

I agree when Village Homes no longer SHOULD have control of the board. It is absolutely absurd when peolpe submit plans that are clearly against our covenants and they are giving the stamp of approval obviously without any regard to the neighborhood. A form letter is sent to the homeowners that reads your plans are approved as long as they meet the HOA guidelines. Wrong people do the work and then say it was approved when it was not actually but the Board makes exceptions, all they have to do is look in the book. I know of at least one instance and I am sure there are more. This is wrong and the person who is responsible for this should be gone and not be allowed to sit on the board. Village Homes still controls us and there is not a thing we can do about it but let them ruin the neighborhood. We should not pay for this garbage.
Unfortunately, correct...

There are definitely other instances. They approve the wrong fences, dog runs that are nuisances to neighbors, and do not act on violations reported to them--this I definitely know for a fact. I attended several board meetings where definite violations were mentioned, and our board president sits there and dismisses them. All Village Homes cares about is getting all the money they can for doing nothing, not honoring warranty work, and moving out quickly next year. Just watch how fast they disappear once the last structure goes up.

We pay a stiff HOA fee compared to the surrounding communities, and what do we get? Thistles all over the common area grass, a filthy and usually unheated pool, flooded sidewalks, mud all over the walking paths, no snow removal and no action regarding violations. Let's not forget the batting cage incident, chain link fences, unbelievably ridiculous decks and coverings, and how many portable basketball hoops block the sidewalks and boats/rv's are littering the streets? So what is it we pay for again? Oh yes, now I remember, we get garbage pickup that leaves trash and our containers all over the street.
