Marcia Johnson, our new City Council representative, will be the main speaker at our quarterly meeting on Wed., August 20. at St. Luke?’s Episcopal Church, 13th and Quebec, from 7 to 9 p.m.
The Park Hill resident has had a distinguished career in Denver. She has been executive director of Greater Park hill Community, Inc., was elected to a six-year citywide term on Denver Public Schools?’ Board of Education and served two terms on the Denver Election Commission.
The councilwoman has participated in more than a dozen City Council committee budget and City Charter review meetings or testified before the City Council representing neighborhood issues. She attended the Citizen Police Academy, trained for a day with the Denver Fire Department and is informed on Career Service Administration.
She will talk briefly about the first month on the job: the Council retreat and reorganized committee structure and her committee work. She will give an update on where we are with the issues she promised during the campaign to take on and talk about the issues that will be on the November ballot. There will be time for questions from the audience.
