Neighborhood Pride

  • What is Neighborhood Pride?
    Neighborhood Pride is a team effort by City departments, neighborhood groups and individual citizens, businesses and other partners to make our neighborhoods safer and cleaner, keys to a more vibrant and exciting future for Columbus.
  • What is Pride week?
    For one week, an intense delivery of City services including the cleaning of alleys, mowing high grass in the public right of way and neighborhood recreational areas, replacing burned out street light bulbs, block watch and fire prevention outreach and evaluating exterior housing for code compliance.
  • How are Pride areas selected?
    Neighborhood groups, Civic Associations, Block Watches, Area Commissions apply to have the Neighborhood Pride program in their neighborhood.
  • How can I  make my Pride week a success?
    Citizen participation in Pride is necessary before, during and after Pride Week.  Neighborhood Pride is the beginning of a long-term process.  Please attend Pride week activities in your neighborhood.

 

Neighborhood Pride Services

Neighborhood Pride is a team effort by City departments, neighborhood groups and individual residents, businesses, schools and other partners to make our neighborhoods safer and cleaner, keys to a more vibrant and exciting future for Columbus.

The City will provide a wide variety of services including:

Street Cleaning

Pothole Repair

Arrange for community police officers to walk the neighborhood

Clean up and mow neighborhood parks, recreational areas, and right-of-ways

Sweep streets and pick up litter in alleys

Remove graffiti on public property and right-of-way areas

Check and repair streetlights

Collect bulk trash upon scheduling at 311 or 645-3111
Paint fire hydrants

Evaluate exterior housing, refuse, and health code compliance

Offer resources to meet home repair needs

Trim or remove problematic trees within street right-of-way

Offer block watch and fire prevention outreach

Provide information on immunization and other neighborhood health needs

Address other neighborhood needs as identified

A Home Repair Consultant can offer you advice about choosing a contractor, tools, and home repair products.

Home Repair Grants and Loans may be available to solve exterior home conditions which threaten life or safety. Many homeowners use these funds to address necessary roof, gutter, siding and porch repairs.

Citizen Service Centers will be established in the neighborhood during Pride week to provide additional information on city services.
