  • Respect-O-Meter: Valued Neighbor

I was like the others- I would stay quiet and let this blow over- thinking this would die down when someone realized that this was not going to happen.  Good for "Trusty" for building the houses-is he going to want to pay legal fees after building the neighborhood or would he like to move on to his next project and not waste time on a small neighborhood like this?  First, I agree with one post that stated about taking action if this goes any further- I will be right there!  I also agree with many other posts on the fact that we do not have a pool, snow removal (which we have horrible snow in the winter) or anything of that sort to where we would WANT to pay money.  I am not going to pay money to keep this neighborhood "safe".  First, we all moved here for a reason, I cannot speak for everyone but I am sure when people were moving here we decided that this neighborhood was nice- why would we want that to change? However, we should not have to pay for it to be "safe".  That is our own right and our own doing- if someone is keeping their yard disgusting- we can go to authority to do it- if we see some shady business going on- we have the RIGHT to do something about it.

Furthermore, on the subject of children- I believe as a parent, we should keep our OWN children safe.  Of course, if I see a child hurt in front of my house or on the way out of the neighborhood, I am going to stop but then again, those chances of that are high because we have parents allowing their children play in the streets, ride their bikes in the streets- not move out of the way when cars are coming- THIS IS YOUR OWN RESPONSIBILITY.  The consequences will be yours when something horrible happens to these kids with the parents that "don't get it" and allow their children to go off and be in the middle of the street.  With that being said, I am not going to pay a dime for everybody to be "safe".  From what I can tell, we are all adults in this neighborhood and we need to take responsibility for our own actions- our yard being neat, our own children, etc.  When in times of something bad happening right then in front of our eyes, we should be good citizens to help. PERIOD.

Nancy, good luck to you- I am not going to judge you on this but I can say you will have a battle on your hands and I hope at the end of the day you can say "it is worth it" because clearly your battle of this is starting to get out numbered of those who do not want this.  I do understand that there is something already in "stone" but please, all you are doing is waking up the dragon.  Everyone has the right to choose their battles, I do not think you're picking the right one but if this continues, I guess you will see of that.

Oh, not to mention, times are hard right now- we should stay focused on keeping food on our tables, keeping a job or getting a job, taking care of our children- not stuff like this.  Priorities.  We already have to pay for our everyday freedom- stop adding on to the list.

Well put and 100% agreed!
