To explain a little history that has lead us up to this point. There was an incident that involved some of our children about 4years ago. Unfortnatley there was no communication when this episode began and it was stopped and resolved with no harm. There was a few of us that was interested in how we could better the communication and safety of our neighborhood. We made a few calls and began expanding our knowledge through NNI and the Community Action officer for Shoal Creek Patrol. The first hand out was mis-worded and was corrected with explanation through other communication handouts. A "Neighborhood Association" is very unrestrictive, this has been re-iterated several times by NNI and Marcus Smith community officer with Shoal Creek Patrol. The City, NNI, and local law enforcements encourage sub-divisions to organize for crime prevention, block watch for the safety of our homes and children and communication. This has been stated before, fees once organized would have been under $100.00 for the neighborhood not each individual. The fee would have been for papers filled with the state. There is a lot of positive that can come from organizing. I would suggest asking the City of Kansas City, NNI, and or Marcus Smith, Community Action officer for Shoal Creek Patrol. This is where we began to learn what we have so far.
Yes, we have been deligent in attempting a Neighborhood Association. There are many extras families or individuals can educate themselves and become involved in, MADD, Little League Sports, Supporting Church Activities, Out Reach activities through many non-for-profit organizations, PTA etc etc. The incident that involved our children in our area of the neighborhood spured our interest and involvement. We choose to get involved in bettering our community and we have become more knowledgable and involved as time went. Just as with any organized event there has to be a proactive person or persons to head things up. With that being said, there has to be a contact person or persons with whom organizations can contact for future communication. There was 2 of us with some support from a few others at different given times. Kevin Ruth (relator), knowing there has been an attempt to organize the neighborhood, gave Chuck Weber my name as the contact person. Chuck assumed that we were organized and I was over seeing this with a board. He attempted contact and I waited to see what he was going to hand out. All the information about HOA is in the handout from Chuck Weber. I personally have not spoke to Chuck, I wanted the support of NNI and there Legal Counsel to assist in figuring this out. There are many questions that has been asked about the HOA that Mr Trusty has for Hampton Meadows.
Questions being asked;
1 Why hasnt there been fees charged by the HOA? No answer as of today.
2 Is it valid? Yes it was recorded as you can see in the hand out by Chuck with the county.
3 Can the neighborhood ammend the restrictions when it is handed over? Depending upon how Mr Trusty words everything when he signs it over. If he still is involved then anything the neighborhood wants to ammend has to be approved by Mr. Trusty.
4 If the neighborhood does nothing with the HOA will it expire in a certain amount of time? No answer as of today.
5 What is the intentions behind the handout and what actions could truly take place. Awaiting Chuck to answer NNI's request to talk to him.
* Yes there is free legal counsel through NNI. *
And Yes I have heard about HOA's and homeowners getting into some really ugly situations. Thank you for the post about 10 things an HOA wont tell you.
Now that my integrity is being questioned from opinions of others that do not know me personally. I am married and have children I do not benefit from the Obama Care. I did make a choice to dedicate some time to this effort. I do not have a desire to be in control of this. We have only passed on information, educated ourselves, have been willing to do the work to organize events.
I have not stated that I am for or against an HOA. I have not stated that I am for restrictions or against restrictions, or thought there should or should not be dues. I have not stated that I desire to be president. I, because of my involvement, have been contacted, nothing more than that. I am only giving information.
This is not a battle it is only information and education. I am not fighting for anything. Hampton Meadow individuals can choose to do with the information what they want.
I will ask NNI to keep updates posted on this site as answers come to the above questions. If there are any other constructive questions that you would like to post, I will inform NNI to keep themselves updated by viewing this site as well.
Respectfully
Nancy
