Compost bins join rain barrels in new sale
Make your yard more productive by installing rain barrels and a compost bin.
In addition to offering rain barrels for sale again, the City of Fort Worth has partnered with Rain Water Solutions to offer a compost bin, too.
The new 88-gallon Back Yard Compost Bin allows all organic waste from your lawn, garden and kitchen to be converted to precious natural fertilizer for your garden and plants. This green, light-weight, sturdy plastic bin has access doors on all sides and a double lid that stays open during use.
Rain barrels reduce stormwater runoff and pollution while conserving water by supplying free water for gardens and plants. The popular, green, 50-gallon Ivy Rain Barrel is made of 50 percent recycled plastic, comes with all hardware, is easy to install and has mosquito-proof screening to protect against West Nile virus.
The cost of each compost bin or rain barrel is just $65. Order and pay for your barrels and/or bins online before October 27. Then pick up your items from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Hazel Harvey Peace Center for Neighborhoods (818 Missouri Ave. 76104). Items will not be delivered to your home.
