I agree on having an agenda before the meeting and at the meeting for many of Pecan's same reasons.
As a newbie to the neighborhood, I was surprised the way the meeting was conducted- and to not even have an agenda at our "first" 8/31 meeting was puzzling. I had been told our crime watch had been dormant for nearly 3 yeras so I thought why even have a guest speaker or any other past history about one person's issues even their dog's story, when this crime watch has much bigger issues so it needed to get it together and move forward.
I have since learned there has never been an agenda in previous meetings(??) How do you have a big meeting of folks without an agenda?
Also at the meeting there was no room for or encouragement of any one else to talk and why was there no mention of elections?
It seems to me an entire new slate of officers is needed after 5 years. We need "fresh ideas" and new leaders etc as evidenced by comments made in the meeting and afterwards. that last meeting was a waste of my time and I had gone to learn and see how i could help.
Then we get another rambling e-mail about old folks being concerned (is that really true?) and mention of another meeting. (??) Our next meeting needs to be an election and run better than this last one in my opinion. Also probably bylaws since i read here in these discussions, there were none and thus our crime watch has had the same officers for 5 years!??
Another topic- why would anyone reply to a neighbor in RED? Isn't that like all CAPs is considered shouting; therefore not good e-mail etiquette? Someone is taking this too personally and not pulling together. This is just a crime watch and not someone's personal kingdom, right?
Who is our crime watch's webmaster or who is the oversight person on our website? they should have addressed this as soon as it appeared. do we have a check and balance system for our website or a committee who oversees the site?
