Harry Stone Crime Watch members-

You may have received an e-mail from the "current" chairman of Harry Stone Crime Watch.

As one of the founders of HSCW 1155, I do hope you will attend Tuesday evening, October 6 at the Casa Emmanuel Church at 7 p.m.

I want clarify and address some open ended implications in that e-mail:

1.  Agenda-  We are having an election of all officers to re-energize our crime watch. As both our Harrystonecw.org  website and the flyer state this is the only agenda item. This meeting was called by the committee because the chairman failed to make elections a priority in the meeting she called on 8/31.

Bottom-line- We need to either get this crime watch working consistently/effectively again or forget the whole idea.

2.            Nominations- the floor is/will be “open” to any/all nominations from any resident of HSCW and these will be for the same officer positions we had 5 years ago when we formed this crime watch.

The committee has talked to neighbors about these positions to assess their real interest, to insure no self agendas, and to determine a commitment to perform; however, as with any election, “someone” has not already been chosen till nominations are made and votes counted.

3.            I am disappointed and saddened that a crime watch related e-mail address (harrystone.crime@sbcglobal.net) would not be shared/given to the entire organization, rather than monopolized after all the Chairman’s nice offers to help contained in her e-mail.

4.             “they”, this committee, are your neighbors and “they” have not chosen to make our Crime watch a Neighborhood or Homeowner Association. This implication is totally false, a scare tactic, and simply pure rabble rousing.

I hope to see you there. Because this is so important to me and our entire HSCW neighborhood, I give you my phone numbers if you want to discuss or if you have any questions.

My home number is 214-328-6195 and my cell is 214-536-8398.

I regret I was unable to attend.

It's a shame Cindy is not acting in the best interest of the entire 'hood.

Someone, let us know how it turned out.

Thanks.

I certainly hope that I don't offend you with my reply to your comments, but I have to say something here.

You have no idea of what I did or didn't do for this neighborhood.  I've always acted in the best interest of the entire "hood" since this crime watch began according to what the residents told me they wanted.  My choices were not my own but the residents of this neighborhood so if you don't like what I did, I'm sorry but I felt my position was to do everything possible to improve our neighborhood in reference to the many comments that I received from residents.  I felt that any neighborhood changes should be what the majority of the residents wanted since this is everyone's neighborhood that lives here whether they are a homeowner or just a renter.  There are many things I would have loved to have done differently here, but that's not what most people wanted and if anyone changed their mind or wanted something different over time, I was never told.

If you don't believe what I'm telling you, I can give you several names of people to contact that will verify everything I've told you.  That list includes officials within the City of Dallas.

I always say, "If you don't know that it's broke, you can't fix it".  I didn't know it was "broke" for you so I couldn't fix whatever was "broke" for you because you never told me how you felt until a couple of months ago.  I would have happily done whatever I could to please you as well, but that option was never there before then.

I would really appreciate it if in the future you wouldn't make comments like this as it does nothing to help out our neighborhood and only pits more neighbors against me from assumptions which simply aren't true.  More than anything, especially right now, our neighborhood needs to join together, not fight each other.  Please join me on this and encourage people to join together as a neighborhood, even if they don't like everyone that lives here.  That's vital if we want to see change here.

I appreciate you reading my reply and sincerely hope you were not offended by what I said and that you will accept the olive branch I am extending to you.

Thanks.

Cindy
