I am sure most of you have noticed that the MCTS has posted signs on 41st & 42nd street. The current bus stops will no longer be in service as of December 9th. I asked the bus driver if he had any new schedules or if he knew how they are going to reroute the bus, he didn't have a clue. Nothing is posted on the MCTS website either.
The signs due state that the route 13 will be renamed St Paul/Wisconsin and still be numbered route 13.
Bus Changes

New schedules are probably coming out soon for all the routes that were affected by the County Budget cuts.

They had to stream-line the route some what, to fit the budget, giving more options to get downtown and connect with other bus routes. Last I heard it will be routed from 40th St, east on St. Paul to N. 35th St., then east on Wisconsin Ave. all the way downtown.

I will call transit and talk to who helped us save the route 13 and see when new schedules will come out with the new routing info.

We should be really greatful that we still have a bus, It was EXTREMELY diffucult to achieve this. Hopefully transit will be able to get federal grant money in spring, or we could face losing the 13 again next year.

More bus info

I got an email response from MCTS and it stated that the new schedules and maps will be available on December 5th. This just gives the riders two days (Dec 5th & 6th) to pick up the schedules, since the bus doesn't run on the weekends (Dec 7th & 8th).
I am greatful that the route was saved. But isn't the new route going to be difficult for the buses to turn on 40th during the winter? Especially since they will be cutting back on plowing the side streets and there is parking on both sides of the streets.
Bus/plowing

Alderman Murphy has assured us that we here in the Valley
will be plowed out (all of our streets) and have nothing to worry about.
Was particularly concerned with emergency vehicle accessability during bad winter snows.

The bus has been rerouted onto 40th in the past, and re-routing has been analyzed by transit, otherwise they would not have gone with a reroute.
School buses whiz down and around 40th Street at least 10 times a day with no clearence problems, winter not withstanding.
