I have been attending the district 7 safety meetings, and found out that there is a city ordinance requiring house numbers to be shown on the garage.  I had not known that, but on the way home from that meeting I stopped off at Lowe's to get some number to put on my garage.  This seems to be a point of emphasis at the monthly safety meetings now, and it appears there will be an upcoming project to get the word out and get the numbers up.  Its most helpful to the police, and also most helpful for the Lights On For Safety project workers.

House numbers posted on alley garages help both the police and fire department do their jobs quickly and accurately.  This is very important in an emergency!  It's very easy to and very inexpensive to do this.  Please contact me if you want help in getting the numbers up on your garage.  It is also now a requirement if you are participating in the Lights on for Safety program.
