JANUARY 2002 MEETING MINUTES

The Hayhurst Neighborhood Association (HNA) met on January 8, 2002. The following issues were discussed:

Cedar Sinai Good Neighbor Agreement – Updates were given regarding current activities, meetings, and compliance with the Good Neighbor Agreement. It was decided that a more active involvement would be initiated.

Fanno/Tryon Creek Update – Joe Higgens reported on the initial stages and development responsibilities of the committee. He will be the HNA representative.

SWNI Parks Committee’s Proposal for dog off-leash areas – An overview of the coalition’s purpose and direction was given. Further information will be provided to HNA members for a more comprehensive understanding of these very sensitive issues so Joe Higgens can carry forward those requests of HNA neighbors.

Crime Prevention – Scott Westerman provided information regarding HNA crime statistics. He also reviewed safety precautions to take to prevent Identity Theft and discussed the Abandoned Car Program.

Land Use and SW Trails Update – No new Land Use requests at this time. Caroline , SW Trails subcommittee member, reported on the walking trail at the bottom of 55th and Idaho. She has coordinated gravel to be donated to complete the restoration of that walking path. They will be spreading the gravel through interested parties or possibly a bucket brigade.

SWNI Board Update – Robert reported on SWNI’s January meeting. He is the official HNA representative.

Elections – By unanimous vote taken on January 8, 2002, the following board members were elected:

Chair - Shannon Kelly
Vice Chair - Lillie Fitzpatrick
Secretary - Gary Hoselton
SWNI rep - Robert Broberg
Land Use - Sylvia McFarland
Parks - Joe Higgins
Safety - Open
Transportation - Open

Upcoming agenda items beyond the regular committee updates include Bylaw revision, open board positions, web site development, and increasing community involvement.
