This is the second Halloween that my husband and I have lived in Hickory Hills, and seems like each Halloween gets worse. Last night, instead of handing out candy, we went to a church function. When we got home, apparently parents and children alike thought we should be handing out candy. They continually rang the doorbell, even with no outside lights on. And the thanks we get for that, at 3:00 am, as large thump on the garage door. When we got up, pumpkins had been thrown at our garage door, along with candles in glass jars, and the mailbox was in the middle of the front yard. Maybe it's time for parents in this neighborhood to know where your children are at 3:00 am. After all, the city has a curfew!! And there is not reason for us to be treated this way because the kids are selfish enough to have one more piece of candy. I hope our board and parents will consider ways to make Halloween run better in this neighborhood. There were other problems, such as not being able to drive down the street last night because of people walking in the middle of the road, the number of teenagers out trick-or-treating (tell them to get a job and go buy their own candy). Halloween should be fun, and I should have to get up and clean up my yard because your kids were mad that I didn't hand out candy!
