High Country

 I don't know how to deal with this situation.  The neighbor that lives in back of me has a dog and I guess he barely got this dog.  He stays inside most of the time and I guess they put him outside at 4am and leave him outside so he can go to the restroom.  But his barking is non-stop waking up me and my whole family, probably as well as the other neighbors around.  I am sick and tired of my family and I not getting enough sleep.  I don't know whether these people can hear their dog barking waking everyone up outside.  My husband said that the people that live in that house are 2 heavy metal rocker guys.  Just my luck!..does anyone have any suggestions to what i can do to solve this problem?..thank you.

Hello, I've lived in Longs Creek for 15 years.  I run the Longs Creek Pet Lost and Found.  You have a couple of options.  The first, which I recommend, is to have discussion with your neighbor.  I know this can feel uncomfortable, but you all ready feel uncomfortable and you are losing sleep as well.  Simply ask them if they can accompany their pet out when they let him/her out to use the bathroom at "4 a.m." so that he will not bark and wake up the neighbors.  You might ask them for their phone (cell AND home) so that if the dog starts barking, you can give them a friendly reminder call that he has woke the family and you need your rest.  If they "choose" to not resolve the matter, then your option is to report them to Code Compliance.  Code Compliance will come out and leave a note or have discussion with the neighbor if they have received complaints about the situation. If they receive a number of unresolved complaints, then they will fine your neighbor.   I hope this has been helpful.
