Neighborhood Park

Posted in: Highland Terrace Neighborhood

Our subdivision was started in 1958 so no neighborhood park was attached to it.   The closest park is about a mile away.  We have oil fields behind the neighborhood and a frontage road, small divider, and large four lane major road in front.  There is an oil owned empty field on one end of the subdivision and another smaller subdivision backing up to the other end.  There has been some discussion about appealing to the neighboring oil companies for a good will gesture; to support the building of a park on the vacant field at one end of the neighborhood, or behind the subdivision.  Any thoughts...?

Thank you so much for voiocing this concern.  I care for my two great grandsons and when I bought this house (McGregor) I too found the nearest park to be quite a distance.  Certainly not within walking distance.  Standard Park is awkward to get too and the one on Day is a bit of a drive.  I moved from a neighborhood where the park was on the next street and I really miss that.

I've even complained on The Bakersfield Californian when they rave about huge parks built by NOR in the Rosedale area.  What about us?
