Isn't that frustrating?

Well, no one is more frustrated than the Website Editor! The Highlands Community Alliance (HCA) first developed to implement the Highlands Community Plan. At the time, I suggested to the HCA board that we utilize the opportunity that NeighborhoodLink was offering to provide information. The members and officers went to much effort to take advantage of this opportunity, as NeighborhoodLink required that we provide information such as by-laws and other documents to prove that the organization was stable before they gave us this space.

Why is this outdated?

Well, the fact of the matter is that after the initial officers changed, the subsequent officers have not felt that the Internet is a valuable tool for posting our items. So they have, for more than a couple of years, chosen not to post anything on this, our website. Deferring to the wishes of the officers and in consideration for Internet users such as myself who get very frustrated by outdated sites, I informed the HCA officers that I was setting a deadline for a decision regarding whether to keep the site at all. Deferring to their decision, toward the end of 2007 I asked NeighborhoodLink to remove the site. They have chosen not to. So it remains outdated!

Does this mean HCA is dead? NO!!!!!!!

Please do not think for one moment that just because the current officers have chosen not to utilize the Internet for the Highlands Community Alliance, that the HCA has disappeared! It has not! IN GENERAL, the HCA meets the third Saturday of every other month; specifically the third Saturdays of January, March, May, July, September and November. These meetings have normally occurred in the mornings and have often been located at the clubhouse of the Highland Hills Apartments, which is on Southcross just east of where it crosses Clark Avenue.

Should there be a change of direction by the HCA officers in the future, I will gladly post all items sent to me (within certain guidelines, of course). But until or if such event occurs, please don't choose not to be involved in your own neighborhood just because our website is outdated. The loss would not only be ours but yours! We may differ in our opinions (including the use of the Internet) but we all need to work together as neighbors!
