There seems to be a lot of new residents in Baycrest these days and that is good. However, many have brought the NIMBY (not in my back yard) attitude with them and have dreams of gates, deed restrictions, and intolerance of things not of their own making.
This is the best neighborhood in the Tampa Bay area. It has always been that way because of its residents getting along and being a bit tolerant of their neighbors. Please don't bring your ideas in here to change that! If you want deed restrictions, etc., Westchase is just up the road a bit!

New Residents Want to Change Us
I, too, have heard these proposal, but there is little chance of new residents (or old) changing too many things in our community. Restoration of deed restrictions is virtually impossible in that it would require 100% of homeowners to agree to do so - not very likely.
Making Bay Crest a gated community is also highly unlikely. The expense would be beyond our means in that we would have to assume responsibility for roadway maintenance and other upkeep.
Like you, I think we have a fine community; we just need to keep it up.

new resident likes Baycrest as i
This is my first visit to this website and I felt a need to reply to some of the negative comments about new residents and their obsession with deed restrictions etc.
As a new, 30 something resident in Baycrest, I can say I like it here the way it is. I chose to buy my house here because there were no deed restrictions. Baycrest has a personality and character that I believe is squelched in other communities such as Westchase. In the year or so I have lived here, I have been very happy. It appears to me that the vast majority of the residents here take pride in their homes and their community.
I would hate to think that the only way to have a beautiful and friendly community is to legislate it through restrictive rules and regulations.
