Hi all, I am sure some of you at least have the same frustrations with the dialup internet connections we get from this neighborhood. I'm just interested to find out if anyone has found a solution at all. So far it appears USWEST cannot provide us with DSL, cable modems from comcast and ATT are not available. Does anyone know any more?

Why does our area rate so low?

No, I don't have any better solutions, just a few questions and a bit better speed after changing ISPs.

Has USWest given a reason why they don't provide DSL here yet? We are a new neighborhood and I would have thought they would have laid the most recent technology.

Why are there no cable modems available? Are they sold out?

I used to dial into Tesser.com and with my slow 28.8 modem, I usually always got only 24.4 or less. Now I am with ID Communications (Tesser going out of the ISP business into WEb Design and passed customers onto ID) and at least now I'm seeing 28.8 speed. I need a new modem, but we were planning on DSL.

NOTE: I connect successfully with a Mac to ID comm on the first try everytime, but My husband has a Windows laptop and it takes SEVERAL attempts to connect. ID Comm says that they have gotten many complaints from their Longmont customers and view it as a USWest problem.

I hope others have found better solutions.
