Attention! Attention!
There was a misprint in November's Newsletter. In fairness to all NOMINATIONS WILL BE TAKEN FROM THE FLOOR AT THE NOVEMBER GENERAL MEETING NOT THE DECEMBER MEETING! So if you know someone who would like to be on the board please come to the November Meeting and nominate them. We need hard working people who want to work to make HKNA a better Place.

Misprint?
In fairness to all, there was no misprint in Nov.'s Newsletter. Nominations will not be taken from the floor at the November General Meeting. In accordance with Article X, Section 2 of the HKNA bylaws, ''The (Nomination) Committee shall submit a list of nominees for the various offices one month prior to the Annual Meeting (the Annual Meeting being defined as the December General Meeting, Article VI, Section 9 of the HKNA bylaws), after ascertaining that the members are willing to accept the nomination. Further nominations will be in order from the floor at the Annual Meeting prior to the election.'' As our friend on 5th Ave. has suggested, we need hardworking people willing to work to make HKNA a better place so, please attend both the Nov. and Dec. General Meetings if you are interested in being on the board or knowing more about the board.

If I have any say.........
''In fairness to all'' we have for the past 9 years taken nominations from the floor during both the Nov. and Dec. meetings. It is not fair to force someone to be a write-in candidate on the night of the election. The by-laws do not say that nominations cannot be taken at the Nov. meetings. It does not say ''any and all'' further nominations will be in Dec. This needs to be a fair and open process. Any and all people who want to run for office should be allowed. The nomination committee needs to be a non-partisan group. The committee is composed of all current board members. We cannot have the perception that the committee is pushing a slate of candidates. The comittee should give a list of all candidates who want to run, not just one for each position. This is a neighborhood association. We need to be all inclusive. If someone looses after the vote, so be it, but it has to be a fair election. As for the by-laws, I tried to bring up this issue after last year. I was meet with ''Oh no, we're not bringing up the by-laws after last years troubles changing them.'' So, I let it go. I know they are a little confusing. We must keep this an open and all inclusive process.

BYLAWS
As directed by the bylaws the nomination committee must accept nominations one month pior to the annual meeting which is December 5. So actually the committe needed to accept nominations until November 5. So if this is correct? I would like to know why my nominations were refused by the committee when I called well within the deadline date? Lets be honest no one will be aware of other nominations because their names will never make it into the newletter.
