Live like you live in a neighborhood

Posted in: Homeowner

I have lived in Southern Dunes for 11 years now.  My kids are about out of the school in the neighborhood, if this neighborhood hadn't gone down the tubes so badly over the years, I'd sell and move out!  However, my house is worth less than the day I bought it.

Over the past years, I've had neighbors with four wheelers racing up and down the street at 10:00 at night-GO LIVE IN THE COUNTRY.  5 trucks and combination of beat up cars parked up and down the cul da sac-GO LIVE IN THE COUNTRY or OPEN A BODY SHOP.  Some IDIOT who thinks that people want to hear his base every night at 10:00 when he pulls in-TAKE THAT KIDS STEREO OUT UNTIL HE LEARNS TO TURN IT DOWN ENTERING A NEIGHBORHOOD.  People leaving their yappy dogs out on grounding runners to bark non-stop at NOTHING-I don't have a dog, I don't like yours.  And adults and teenagers cutting through my lawn at all hours of the night like it's no big deal.  It will be when I set up trip wires because I'm tired of being scared when someone creeps through my yard. SIDEWALKS USE THEM. How about all the dead trees throughout the development, yet to be replaced, DEAD ZONE.  Busted down light poles laying on the ground for WEEKS.  Trash...my goodness....trash blowing around everywhere.  Pick up.  Grow up.

This neighborhood has gone straight down the toilet!  It wasn't ever fabulous, but at least for the first few years people cared that lived in the houses.  With all the foreclosures, renters in and out, I've spent more time and money mowing left behind weed infested lawns every week, and 2 of my neighbors, have people in the houses but because all they have are weeds, they don't feel it necesary to mow....yet I spend hundreds of dollars year after year to get my lawn looking good but have it consistently infested by the weeds from my neighbors.  It's ridiculous.  I do have a few good neighbors...every saturday and sunday we're out working hard to represent our investment and hopefully overcome the ones that don't.

It's a NEIGHBORHOOD.  Be respectful of others around you or move to someplace that there is distance and no rules to follow.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out people.... This is the neighborhood you chose to live in, follow the rules and be respectful.  Nobody was FORCED to live here.

I feel your pain. I live in South Sacramento;
Florin to be exact. It is a working class neighborhood and relatively quiet,
with the exception of my neighbors, lucky me. I bought the house in 2008 and
have been miserable ever since the young adult children of my next door
neighbor moved back in. First of all, it's a 3 bedroom home; the same as mine.
But, they have at least 8 people living there; five of which have cars. I have
never had a clear view from my window to across the street. And let's not talk
about the many people that visit and also park in front of my house, using my
driveway as a short cut for not making a three point turn. I've even had my
driveway blocked. Here's a laundry list of everything I've gone through in the
3.5 years living here: Trespassers; people walking on my lawn; stolen trash
cans; stolen newspapers; barking dogs (they had 15 when I first moved in); a
shared fence they refuse to repair or help pay for a new one; kids hanging out
on my driveway to skateboard; a stolen pool sweep; loud music, drinking and
drug abuse, almost daily; leaves dumped at the end of my driveway; dog feces
and one time human feces on my property; their cat uses my bushes to handle his
business; beer caps, cigarette butts and blunt wrappers on my lawn; no privacy
(they hang out outside almost all day long). I've complained to the father
about the loud noise and he told me to wear ear plugs. The mother won't even
talk to me because apparently, I am not allowed to complain about her 15 dogs,
now down to 4...I think. I've been awaken in the middle of the night by someone
standing outside my living room window. I was forced to get a watch dog and
surveillance equipment because I don't feel safe in my own home. Calling the
police about the loud noise is a joke. As soon as the police leave they turn it
back on. I've had to endure listening to loud music and the loud noise of their
tweaking voices until 2 in the morning on a work day. Oh, did I mention, none
of them work? So, yes the partying begins at approximately 11:00 AM, when they
wake up and doesn't end until I call the police. They are not renters and have
been around for at least 12 years. What I'm most surprised about is that no one
else calls the police. We need to group together and start doing neighborhood
crime watch patrols or at a minimum, call the police.

Please allow me to introduce myself.  I am a casting associate with a Los Angeles-based television production company that develops television series for a variety of cable networks.

We are casting a non-scripted special that aims to resolve ongoing conflicts between neighbors.  We will provide a professional mediator who will work with you and your neighbor to find a solution.  WE WILL PAY YOU $1000 FOR YOUR TIME!  If this sounds like you or someone you know who is having difficulty with their neighbor, we want to hear from you.  The only requirements are: You have to live in a house (or rent in a house; sorry, no apartments).  On camera experience is not required; however, candidates must be comfortable in front of the camera and interacting with others.

To be considered for the project, please tell us your story, what city you live in, and the best way to reach you by emailing us at: neighbortvshow@gmail.com.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best wishes,
