Why deed restrictions?

The neighborhood is going to hell in a handbasket if we don't start paying attention to the rules in place - yea - that means you! Find out if you have deed restrictions and if you do abide by them! Geez, how hard is it to not park your car in the yard, keep your fence mended or put trash in the trash can instead of your front lawn?!?!? Take pride in your surroundings and someone might actually take pride in YOU!

If you buy a house and don't realize you have deed restrictions, call your title company and chew their butts out and threaten a claim on your title insurance policy. Call your realtor too. But once you are notified of them, these are LEGAL restrictions on your property and the LAW requires you to abide. Harris County now has a Deed Restriction Enforcement section of the Small Claims Court. ANY MEMBER resident of OSBCA can pursue enforcement according to the deed restrictions. I guess we are going to have to take a few folks to court to prove our point.
