The North Portland Branch Library re-opened its doors Saturday, March 25th. The library has been closed for the past year to receive a structural and cosmetic makeover. When you stop by for a look, you?’ll find a beautifully restored building with vaulted ceilings, new furniture and lighting fixtures, an elevator, a larger selection of books, magazines, and CDs, and 18 new computers to help you find books or explore the internet. The upstairs portion of the library has also been fully renovated into an 85-seat assembly hall. The library staff is also looking for volunteers. Do you have some computer skills to share? Would you enjoy reading books to children? Do you have other talents or skills? If so, or if you?’d like more information about volunteering, please call 988-5461.
