Dear Arthur and friends,
Happy Fathers Day to all Fathers and male caregivers. The Food Pantry at St. Matthew Trinity Lutheran Church, 690 Newport Ave., Pawtucket is in need of all types of breakfast cereal, peanut butter, breakfast pastry, or children-friendly foods. Pawtucket neighborhood food drives would be encouraged this summer.
The Food Pantry at SMTLC has been in operation since 1991. In a humane way, we provide clients with canned protein, fresh vegetables as well as health and beauty aids from the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. However, the RICFB cannot provide all our needs. SMTLC serves about 750 Pawtucket residents per month as we are open Thursday and Friday 9 a.m. to noon and every second and fourth Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Second of all, another disturbing trend occurs in feeding the Pawtucket hungry . The Christian Community Soup Kitchen at Park Place Congregational is now serving about 75 people every Saturday at 4 p.m. Eight area churches participate in this important mission. Nevertheless, a change of demographics has occurred in feeding the local needy. Our clients have become steadily younger since this mission was established in the early 1990's. To see what the soup kitchen needs, please call Janet Ruthowski at (401) 723-8318.
I would be willing to pick up all gathered food. Please contact jamesmatuszek@cox.net or call (401) 728-1091 or Pastor Cheryl Larsen Lawing at pastorclc2001@verizon.net or call (401) 723-5632.
P.S. Arthur, could you transfer this message to Pawtucket Neighborhood Alliance Facebook site? Thanks, Jim
