Quoting our HOA president, Sharson Disler, in the newest Hunters Horn: "Crime still plagues this community with a vengeance."

I would be interested to know where this "crime with a vengeance" is occuring, what types of crime it  is and what is being done about it by the SAPD and the SAFFE unit, which received stimulus dollars to protect communities like ours.

According to what happened on Lost Lake last night, which is once again littered with trash from the leased property at 7310 Matchlock, I question why our covenant regarding single-property only is not enforced. People with knowledge about crime know that communities with too many leased properties not only lose property values but experience an increase in criminal activity.

So if you're reading this and you're thinking about buying a house in Hunters Chase, I advise you to look elsewhere, because our community is headed in the wrong direction.

My husband and I are supposed to close on a house on September 25th so reading this is quite disturbing.  Our home is on Hunters Mount.  Is it bad enough that you would suggest backing out?  We are a  young couple and this would be our first home.  I wish I had found this site a few weeks ago!

People who live in an HOA community can be categorized into the following groups:

1. Those who purchased a home in an HOA community with the belief the HOA would help protect their investment through the enforcement of the covenants and deed restrictions.

2. Those who purchased a home in an HOA community who claim they didn't know there is an HOA or who have spent their entire lives hating rules and being held accountable for their inappropriate behavior. Unfortunately these people have all the "rights' in today's society and it takes an eternity for the HOA to correct the violations.

3. The renters are the next group. Nobody informs them they are living in an HOA community and they probably don't care anyway. They come and go like the wind, bring in their friends and for the most part the homeowner doesn't care either as long as they get the rent check each month.

That's it in a nutshell. Be careful not to categorize people as complainers, as it's easy to dismiss them as such. They are just folks who worked hard to buy a house, the biggest investment in their lives, and now they find themselves helpless when it comes to keeping out those people who never learned any social skills.

Good luck with your purchase. As for me, I'll never again buy a house in an HOA community because paying HOA dues is nothing more than making the management company rich on the backs of a few responsible homeowners.

For the people who asked about the neighborhood, I think all you need to know is the lack of responses here from the HOA people. You should also drop by Matchlock and look at the house on the corner littered with beer cans which should tell you about us and what we face here now everyday.

I'm to the point where I'm willing to sell my house at a loss just to move somewhere so I can sleep at night.
