Memorial Flag Pole

Posted in: Country Club Place
Would someone please provide an update on the memorial flag pole for Jesse Halling? Have we reached the monetary goal yet? How much has the neighborhood collected and how much more is needed? Has a date been decided for the dedication? What ever information you have would be appreciated. (A big thank you goes out to those who have taken on this project!)

Update

Be happy to. Minutes/notes from the Board meeting will be posted here, hopefully within a week. Due to some extenuating personal circumstances for both Dick Lewis and myself, we haven't been able to get the usual information out as quickly as we normally will. Thanks for your patience!

OK, flagpole update. As of the Board meeting, Meridian Management had collected almost $600 from residents plus an additional $660 from an American Legion Post (largely through the efforts of the Gullion family). Initial cost estimates for a flagpole and 2 flags were around $500, and a memorial plaque was quoted at $300. Brickman will be donating their services to edge and mulch the specified area on the entrance/exit median. Any remaining funds will be kept in a reserve account to purchase replacement flags as they wear out.

To my knowledge no date has been formally set for the dedication, I will touch base with Jeanne Gullion and Tricia Edwards for more info. We will give ample notice of the selected date.

The Gullion family and Meridian Management really deserve a lot of thanks from the neighborhood for all of their efforts in both the initial floral memorial and the flagpole memorial. The Board would also like to thank everyone who has contributed funds to this effort.

Update as of 7/3

The flag pole was delivered to the Guillion's home today. Meridian Management will be making plans to have it installed next week. Once it is in place, I will contact Brickman and the company who will be bringing out the memorial stone. We did collect $592 from CCP residents and the Guillion's collected over $600 from other avenues. The flag pole and 2 flags were roughly $650. The memorial stone is $300. I have asked our accounting department to create a separate line item on our financials for the remaining funds. This line will read flag pole maintenance. Hope this helps. I will try to give updates as we progress.
Update?

Tricia's note said it was to be installed the week after the 4th. Any new news on this subject?
