There is a wrecked/nonoperative vehicle at 5994 Sycamore Forge Lane that has been there for at least three weeks. I have called the Marion County Health Deprtment (221-2150) to register a complaint. There are rules about leaving unplated or nonoperative vehicles around, even on private property. I have been told that the county health department is pretty good about responding to these complaints, but even more so if more people call in.

Will someone also send the phone number for our home owners association? I would like to notify them on the problem (and others with this same location) as well.

I am familiar with the vehicle that you are talking about. But, why should it be your business when it is parked at their house, in their drive way? Is it a disturbance to you? How do you know that they aren't waiting to get the vehicle into a shop to be fixed? Or that they are saving the money to get it fixed? Not everyone is fortunate enough to have money saved up for such occurances. We should be more concerned about people who have multiple vehicles, such that their driveway and the road infront of their house is full with them. And what about those vehicles that are inoperable? There is a house on Sycamore Forge Ln. with this. And what about when people block the sidewalk when they park in their driveway, so that young children have to go onto the road when walking or riding a bike. I think that should be more of a concern then someones vehicle that is inopperable (we're assuming) and parked in their driveway and is not bothersome or a hinderance to others by blocking the sidewald or road. People have vehicle accidents, it's just what happens. And it shouldn't be your concern what they do with that vehicle unless it is personally inableing you from driving down the road safely, or walking down the sidewalk.

I will have to agree with all the points you have made, but must say that the wrecked car is making an impact on our neighborhood. Suppose you live next door and are trying to sell your house, does this make a good impression on the people looking to buy in our area? I think not, why can't the vehicle be moved into the garage just like the boat their neighbor garages, it's part of the covenants that we all signed when we moved in. It's kind of like the neighbor who refuses to mow his yard, your yard may look excellent but if your neighbor doesn't do at least as much as you it detracts from all the effort you put forth, now does this make sense. It's kind of like, are we going to make the bed? we're just going to sleep in it again. It does matter if you want to get what you paid for your property back when you sell,that is why we have associations, to not allow the ones with no pride or expectations to run down our property values. Put the wreck in the garage and the matter is over.

After reading my post I would like to clarify one point or comment I made. I do not in any way mean to imply that the folks with the wrecked SUV in their drive are without pride for their porperty or expectations of what their property will yield. These words were perhaps a poor choice on my part. As a board member, I drive through our neighborhood almost every day and see what is good and bad and can detect a trend to the seedy side when I see it. While the wrecked vehicle is only one at this point, the multiple vehicles parked on the road that you mentioned and the ones we have had towed and marked that sit on the road are indeed a problem. If we let one go we must let them all go, what do you prefer? We as a board are deciding what stand we will take in the future about problems like this. If we remain reticent or non-.commital about these infractions that only welcomes more of the like
